The Fat Catz Poster

This is a 24x24 screen-printed ceiling poster made for a band.

The text in the rings around the band name is the word “cat” translated into a variety of dead languages. The symbols are monograms of “fat” and “cat”.

Around the edge are some lines from one of the band’s songs, which they wanted to be included. My intention was to convey the sort of mystical transformative experience in nature that they seem to be describing. I used two tones of metallic gold ink to give the sky a shimmering effect similar to that produced by the gilded interior of a cathedral dome. This silhouettes the trees which are shown from below as if gazing up at the sky through a forest clearing.

The lettering around the edge is in an old Slavic script.
